Description: 

As a child, one of my favorite activities for the summer was going to the beach with my family. This particular beach in Rehoboth, Delaware was a favorite of my family and I would often spend my time there collecting the shells I found along the shore. As a hoarder of personal artifacts, I have kept these shells I’ve collected for the past 15+ years in a box tucked away in my closet. For this work, I took part of my collection and returned them from where they came.

In this video work, I return to my childhood beach in the dead of winter and align my shells with the sea. I let the waves reclaim them as I wish that the waves of childhood could reclaim me too. In longing to return, I find the strength to let go.
